Kabar dari Kami di Korea ^^v

on 1 April 2013

“Due to the news reports and the internet media articles, we deeply understand how you feel about the political situation between South Korea and North Korea. Korean Government are striving their best efforts for safety of citizens in South Korea. We hopefully want you not to be interfered by this matter and to inform your family of your own safety. We would like to let you know that we reserve spaces for such an emergent situation. If not avoidable, you may evacuate from danger to on-campus underground bunker at PNU. We hope any worse situation will not occur. Please not disturbed by the news that seems too urgent apparently.”

Tetap doakan kami ya ^^

Evakuasi Mahasiswa PNU dalam Bungker Jika Terjadi Keadaan Darurat

This is the office of international services.

Before answering your inquiries, let me firstly clear out the purpose of my previous email to KGSP students. It was aimed to console our KGSP students who might be worried about current political situation. I want you to know that I am well aware of how you might be concerned about this. I assume other Korean citizens would feel the same way just like you.

Please understand the followings are my answers to your questions that I can offer you at the moment.

Lapangan PNU (dokumen pribadi)

Lapangan PNU (dokumen pribadi)

1. Where is specific location of PNU’s bunker?

– When I mentioned bunker in prior email, I indicated the underground spaces such as underground parking lot. Generally such a place is used for evacuation when emergency occurs.

2. Is there any simulation for international student or something similar?

– We hopefully wish the worse situation does not occur any more, but if we cannot avoid an emergent situation like an international war between countries. For international citizen holders, they are advised to leave Korea and must contact Embassy of their nationality in Korea and follow your embassy’s instruction.

3. Who take the responsibility of the bunker? PNU, local government or other?

– The department of Facilities in PNU will take in charge of managing shelters in PNU.

4. There are thousands students in PNU and local people who live around the campus, how much capacity does the bunker have?

– When emergency occurs, you are allowed to evacuate to underground spaces in the buildings at PNU. Also, you may search the capacities and areas you are able to evacuate from the nearest place where you are living in the following link. But they do not provide any information on PNU shelters.

5. When OIA mentioned “we reserve spaces for such emergent situation”, what is the sign that we have the reservation? is student ID is enough or we need other reservation?

– No. there would be no prior reservation for the space as far as I know.

In the earlier email, I meant <we have areas like underground parking lots for evacuation.> by <we “reserve” spaces.>.
